Raiz Advent Calendar for the financially savvy - Raiz Invest

Hello December! ‘Tis the season for the best calendars on the planet: Advent Calendars!

Welcome to the Raiz Advent Calendar! Let’s see how many of these you can stick to. They may not be sweet like chocolate, but here are some small steps that should help improve your financial waistline this holiday season.

Dec 1: Squirrel away $5 or more to help build your holiday savings. If you’re feeling up to it, challenge yourself to put aside $10 per day up until Christmas – that’s $250 in extra savings!

Dec 2: Check Raiz Rewards to see if the presents you are planning to buy your friends and family are eligible for any cashback!

Dec 3: Suggest a Secret Santa with a group of friends or family. This way you can save money and time by only having to buy a gift for one person.

Dec 4: Set a savings goal in the Raiz app, or check on your existing goal to see if you are on track and how far along your are. For more information on Raiz fees, click here.

Dec 5: Do some free exercise, like a jog, or a brisk walk. Healthy body, healthy mind 😊

Dec 6: Word of the day: Christmas. Save $0.50 every time you hear the word mentioned – like you’re rounding up the spare change of Christmas.

Dec 7: Give the gift of D.I.Y. Homemade gifts can be a great way to save money, pick someone you intend to give a present to this year and come up with a DIY gift for them.

Dec 8: Pack your lunches for work this week. This can save a decent amount of money as opposed to buying them each day.

Dec 9: Check your savings account interest rate. It might be lower than you think.

Dec 10: Take a look at your Super account and check if you are satisfied with your fund’s fees and performance.

Dec 11: Read our blog post on Risk and consider this newfound knowledge in relation to your chosen Raiz portfolio.

Dec 12: Automate your savings/investment plan. Our recurring deposit/savings goal feature can assist with this.

Dec 13: Word of the day: Unprecedented. Save $1 every time you hear the word mentioned.

Dec 14: Review your budget and see if any changes need to be made for the new year

Dec 15: If you have a home loan, take a look at the deal you are currently on, and if it’s no longer competitive, it might be time to refinance.

Dec 16: Check your subscriptions, like streaming services and gym memberships, and cancel the ones you no longer use.

Dec 17: If you have any Buy Now Pay Later purchases, double check that you have sufficient funds in the account to avoid paying penalty fees

Dec 18: Catch public transport if you go out today/tonight. This can save you a decent chunk compared to using rideshare apps like Uber.

Dec 19: Avoid food delivery apps. Uber Eats is great for those nights when you just can’t be bothered cooking, but unfortunately it quickly adds up.

Dec 20: Remember to bring reusable bags to the supermarket! Although cheap, buying new ones each time you go grocery still adds up over time.

Dec 21: Buy a reusable water bottle and actually use it. The cost of regularly purchasing single-use plastic water bottles quickly adds up.

Dec 22: Still using a subscription service? Talk to your friends/family and see if you can organize to share an account, which will save each of you money on subscription fees.

Dec 23: Save some money on power by turning off any Christmas lights you have setup during the day and when you go to bed.

Dec 24: Personal finance chores on Christmas eve? No thanks, enjoy the festivities! Or maybe you could refer a friend to Raiz for an early $5 Christmas present.
