Finance jargon can be tough to keep up with, here’s the basic lingo to sound like you know what you’re talking about:
‘Risk’ can be a tricky concept to a new investor. The word can have different meanings in different contexts and avoiding one type of risk can leave you open to another; investing in anything is an inherently risky thing.

It’s still summer holidays in Europe, so again it was subdued on the news front. However, this week will be about the markets processing US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s comments from Friday, which re-emphasised the central bank’s hawkish message.
I’ll be honest – I’m not known as much of a saver. I don’t usually have a lot left over at the end of the month and my parents have had to bail me out a few times over the years (especially at rego time 😒). And while I’ve always wanted to be able to save, be more savvy with my finances and learn how investing works – it’s always sat out of reach in the too-hard-basket.
