Do
\nyou know what I like most about technology? It\u2019s that I can do less boring
\nthings, and focus more on the things I like. I\u2019m not the only one, this has
\nbeen happening for thousands of years.<\/p>\n

Years
\nago as hunter-gatherers, one of the more lazy villagers looked at everyone else
\nand said \u2018why don\u2019t we have the plants and animals we want to eat here instead
\nof looking for them every day?\u2019 And just like that, farming was born.<\/p>\n

Then
\nwe started riding the animals rather than simply eating them. This turned into
\nthe horse and cart. A bit more tinkering created the steam engine, and finally
\nthe car. Technology solved the problem of transportation.<\/p>\n

Daily
\nannoyances to keep a tidy house have taken the same journey. Electricity and
\nplumbing have solved many of the smaller day to day requirements we need to
\nkeep our homes clean.<\/p>\n

As
\nyou can see, the roll of technology has been to remove us from performing grunt
\nwork. Free our time and resources up. Allow us to get more out of less.<\/p>\n

But
\nthe interesting thing about technology these days is that it\u2019s focus is no
\nlonger about solving physical menial work. It\u2019s actually starting to solve
\ncognitive problems. Being helpful in ways to help us maximise what we want to
\ndo with the free time we now have.<\/p>\n

For
\nexample, I can simply say the words \u2018hey Siri\u2019 and my phone lights up, waiting
\nto answer my questions. It\u2019s not perfect yet, but it\u2019s getting better. Raiz in

As
\na finance guy, my main message over the last few years has been to outsource to
\nautomation. And I\u2019ve seen remarkable results from everyday people who reduced
\nthe amount of things they monitor and measure, and simply focused on what they
