Australian markets continued to show resilience this week, with the ASX 200 edging 0.3% higher as improving global sentiment and strong corporate activity supported investor confidence. Several major capital raisings highlighted ongoing momentum across the local market, including Arafura Rare Earths securing A$350 million to advance the Nolans Project and Electro Optic Systems raising A$150 million to support future growth initiatives. New listing SkinKandy also delivered a strong market debut, finishing its first week above its IPO price, reflecting healthy investor appetite for new opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In the United States, markets pushed higher as easing tensions in the Middle East and continued enthusiasm around artificial intelligence helped lift sentiment. The S&P 500 gained 0.9%, the Nasdaq rose 0.5%, and the Dow Jones reached a fresh all-time high with a 2.1% increase. While consumer sentiment remains subdued, investors were encouraged by signs of stability and the ongoing strength of large technology companies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

European markets also moved higher, with the Euro Stoxx 600 climbing 3.0% as hopes for reduced geopolitical tensions boosted confidence across the region. This positive performance came despite softer economic growth forecasts from the European Commission, showing investors remain focused on improving market conditions and the potential for stabilisation in energy markets over the months ahead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across Asia, Japan led regional gains with the Nikkei rising 3.1%, supported by strong technology shares and a weaker yen. Inflation data also provided reassurance that price pressures may be easing. Meanwhile, Chinese markets were softer, with the Shanghai Composite and Hang Seng both declining as weaker retail sales data renewed concerns around growth.
